Great Ways to View the Nights of Lights

St. Augustine’s beautiful and award-winning Nights of Lights Display will begin November 14 and continue through January 31. Please note this year there will not be the traditional lighting ceremony in the Plaza downtown. However, there are still many ways to enjoy the Nights of Lights.

Enjoy the 2020 Nights of Lights in St. Augustine

1. Old Town Trolley and Ripley’s Red Express Tours

The Old Town Trolley’s Famous Nights of Lights Tour. Tours depart nightly beginning at 6 p.m. from the Visitor Information Center. The Ripley’s Red Express tours begin at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.

2. Enjoy the Light Display from the Water

Many tours are available to view the lights from the Bay:  St. Augustine Eco Tours, the Schooner Freedom, Florida Water Tours, Scenic Cruise, St. Augustine Boat Tours, Red Boat Water Tours, and the Black Raven. Each cruise has their own special spin on viewing the lights.

3. St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum 

Climb the 219 steps to the top of the Lighthouse to enjoy a spectacular view of the city bathed in the glow of millions of sparkling white lights. A truly breathtaking experience is to take a tour with Old City Helicopters. 

4. The Tasting Tours Wine & Carriage Tour

Enjoy a slower-paced tour through historic downtown on a 45-minute group ride which includes a bottle of wine to share. The Tasting Tours offer these tours beginning at $49 per person. Private carriage rides are also available as well as family-friend rides with the Grinch!

5. Tour Saint Augustine Guided Walking Tour

Tour Saint Augustine guides lead a 90-minute walking tour on most Fridays and Saturdays in December and January. Participants learn about St. Augustine’s history as well as colonial tales and holiday traditions while also enjoying the beautiful lighting and décor along the streets and sites like the Lightner Museum Courtyard, the Plaza de la Constitución, and the charming Bayfront. Beginning with homemade hot chocolate or ice cream, the tours start at 6:30 p.m. and are $20 per person.

6. St. Augustine Gold Tours

Small groups can book a tour with this company and enjoy the comfort of a luxurious 8-seat golf cart along with an experienced tour guide.

7. Romantic Horse and Carriage Tour by Southern Carriages or Country Carriages

Enjoy a romantic carriage tour that departs from the Bayfront near the Castillo de San Marcos daily. Rates vary from $125 for a group of 4 and up.
